belated weekend report

Some pics from the weekend...

(Kiddo took this one...we made crop circles!)

It was a beautiful, fun weekend.  Except for a father/son cookie baking fest, we spent nearly the whole weekend out in our yard.  The three of us tackled several projects in the garden on Saturday (we're I'm getting a little carried away - details to come in this week's kindergarden post).  Sunday afternoon and evening were spent with friends, watching the Phillies, playing croquet and frisbee football and feasting on pizza.  Monday was a quiet day of puttering and just hanging out as a family.  It was fun and relaxing and perfect.

Now that Memorial Day has come and gone, we are slowly changing gears into summer mode.  We've got the air conditioners in the windows, Kiddo is counting down the last few days of school (9 and a half), Hubby has the grill up and running, and we find ourselves spending a lot of our evenings outside.  Love that.  Kiddo and I (and Hubby, too) have been working on our summer 2011 list, inspired by Meg's list that she does every year.  No big trips planned, but we are looking forward to several activities and some day trips. Will post our list soon.

Yesterday I made my first trip trip to the SPCA to drop off an animal instead of to pick one up.  Long story short, one of the neighbor's barn cats I have been babysitting got very sick, and after a discussion with our vet, I took her to be put to sleep.  I cried.  But she was so miserable, and I hated to see her suffer.  To complicate matters, Kiddo was with me when we found her, and he was heart-broken and upset over her condition.  So while he was at school yesterday, I took her "to get some medicine so that she won't feel sick anymore."  I felt relieved afterwards, but it was short-lived...when we went over to check on the cats this afternoon, I saw two other kittens that are concerning me.  I hope I don't have to make any more one-way trips with kitties, but I'm not overly optimistic.  My neighbor might have to do some convincing to get me to feed her cats again...this is more than I bargained for!   (Or maybe she won't ask me again if several of her cats disappear while I am in charge).    Is it silly to pray for miraculous healing for a cat (or two)?

Oh my.  Bed time.  Have a great night, y'all...may the rest of your week be blessed!

I love crochet! Looks like a great weekend, except for the poor cats. I don't think it's silly to pray for them. They are God's creatures too.
