Kiddo has known for a couple of weeks, and says he feels "excited, because we've been waiting for a baby brother or sister for a very long time, but it also feels a little weird because we didn't think it was going to happen." Yep. Sometimes it feels pretty weird to me, too. While Kiddo is looking forward to May, I don't think the reality has quite set in for him yet. ;)

The
Kiddo has been learning how to read music at school. He came home the other day so excited about learning the notes in the treble clef. He grabbed some score paper (is that what it's called?) and started composing. And composing. And composing. He's filling up a notebook with his songs. He's got quarter notes, eighth notes, half and quarter notes, ties and pedal markings. He's got measures and repeats, choruses and verses. His songs are...not particularly melodic. And even though he's got all the (mostly) right markings in there, he doesn't always play what he writes. But it is so much fun to watch him experiment and create, completely absorbed as he plinks out notes and then scribbles on his paper. And he's so proud when he's finished. I get daily concerts of Kiddo songs. Love that.
Piano lessons may or may not be in his future. We'll see.

Not (always) about the product, but about the process. How wonderful that he is creative, and that he jumps into things with his whole heart. That will serve him well.
Wow, that's awesome for a child his age. I don't think I could write anything even at this age!
Happy all is well and music runs in the family. :)
It might not seem like anything much now, but oh the possibilities!
How awesome!!
