spring

This is what we woke up to yesterday morning...

Not cool.  Cold, yes.  Cool, no.

Around here, they call this an "onion snow."  Only, we don't have any onions (or anything else, for that matter) planted yet.

And there's more snow and ice coming throughout the week.  Sigh.  I'm tired of snow.  We had one wonderfully warm day last week, and it spoiled me rotten.  I'm ready for flip flops, not mittens.

This guy enjoyed the warm weather, too...

Despite the white stuff on the ground this week, Spring is here!  I think.

Green stuff is poking out of the ground,

The crocuses are blooming,

And the bees are busy.

Trees and bushes are growing buds,

The birds are back, and we wake up to them singing.

My son is regularly covered in sidewalk chalk,

And the stomp rockets have made their first appearance of the year!

Yes, that's his middle finger.  I know.  I am cherishing his innocence a while longer.

One of the things we hate love to do in the spring is pick up all the sticks and twigs that have fallen from our trees over the winter.  The other day I bribed Kiddo into helping.  I told him I would give him a penny for every stick he picked up.  He jumped on that money-making opportunity with 7-year-old enthusiasm.

He made a whopping $2.29 before he decided he had had enough.  But that still left an awful lot of sticks for Mommy and Daddy.  Anyone want to pay me a penny a stick for all the ones I picked up?

Oh!  Did you see the "bigger and brighter" moon on Saturday night?  The sky was crystal-clear here, and the moon was incredible.

It really was BIG, especially as it was just rising above the horizon.  We were out with friends when we first saw it, and Kiddo was fascinated as he tracked it through the car window on our way home.  A very cool science lesson!

I am home nursing two convalescents today.

Convalescent Number One crawled in bed with me this morning before throwing up (a nearby pile of dirty clothes came in very handy).

Convalescent Number Two is recovering from a stroke.

I thought he was a goner over the weekend, but, thanks to the ministrations of a wonderful vet (fluids, rest, and meds to enhance his appetite), he has bounced back and is (we think) on the mend - a little weaker, a little chattier (translation:  meow meow meow meow meow meow meow) and a whole lot sleepier.

The two of them are snuggle buddies - at least for today.

Maybe it's not such a bad thing after all that the warm weather is holding off for a few days.

So many great pictures! The one with the bee is fantastic---I can't get over how you can see the little grains of pollen on his legs. Great job!

My other favorite is father & son, both staring up to see where the rocket went.

And of course, the moon. :)

I loved your photos of crocuses in the snow and your son having fun with the rockets.
