Our church did something new today. While communion was served, the children of the congregation were invited to come forward, where they were given a grape...and a blessing from our pastor.
LOVE that.
I'm reading "Too Small to Ignore" by Wess Stafford this week. In one of the first chapters, he grieves the fact the children are excluded from so much of our church services and made to feel like they have nothing to contribute. That doesn't describe our church home - our church family isn't perfect, but they do a wonderful job of including the children in the service through music, scripture reading and more. But I was still thrilled that the children were included in the communion service today. I remember feeling very left out as a child, mouth watering as the bread/crackers and grape juice were passed under my nose during communion. My son didn't have to feel that way today.
That did this momma's heart some serious good.

How wonderful, it sounds like you have a great church!
Deep Run East is good at finding ways to involve all ages in my opinion.
