kindergardens - week 9 {kids photo challenge}

Our KinderGARDEN assignment this week was to send the kid(s) into the garden with the camera. At lunchtime yesterday, I asked Kiddo if he wanted to go out and take his pictures in the afternoon, or if he wanted to wait for the evening. "I'll wait until evening," he said, "because the sun will be lower and it will make a nice background for my pictures and they'll be really pretty." Yep, I'm training him up well.

So after dinner, he grabbed his camera and headed out to snap some shots...and videos.

He really wanted me to post the videos, but I couldn't get them to load, so you'll have to settle for his pictures instead.  You should probably breathe a sigh of relief - when a 7-year-old makes a video while speed-walking through the garden, the result can be a queasy experience for anyone watching.

Here are a few of Kiddo's pictures:

sunflower jungle

morning glory house

lacecap hydrangea

petunias in his flowerbed

patriotic duck in his flowerbed (and a weed)

tomatoes - we are going to be up to our EARS in grape tomatoes.
I'm starting to panic, there are SO MANY!

morning glory house again

Flower maze.  It's growing sloooowly.  Kiddo is trying to be patient.

Arch that is supposed to be covered in hyacinth beans.  But the hyacinth beans are having trouble growing big while fighting off cucumber beetles and fast-growing sunflowers that are hoarding all of the light.

daylily

veggies (and the kinkiest no-kinking hose I've ever met)

It sure was fun watching him run around with the camera, snapping pics of what he thought was important for you to see.

There are lots of other kids behind the camera this week - you can check out their pics at this week's KinderGARDEN post!

Yes, he did a good job but the last picture is the very best.

Fun! I bet he loved it, and I bet you had a blast looking through them together! I'm really wishing I had a point & shoot... we'll see if we get this assignment done (or not).

Ugh! I'm so jealous! I'm not sure where you are, but it's much warmer than my zone 4. I'm at least a month behind you. Good work on the tomatoes and the emerging-shutterbug.

Way to go Kiddo! Those are great pics. And you may have to box up some of those grape tomatoes and mail them to us. *sigh* Our poor little garden... Yours looks awesome! (I'm fighting off jealousy.)

Sounds like you will be making lots of sauce and salsa this fall. :)

The morning glory house is amazing!

I liked seeing his perspective :) The morning glory house is so lush and beautiful. We may be overrun with tomatoes also - good thing they're so wonderfully bite-sized

I LOVE the first two pictures! He looks like a little detective out there with his camera. I need to get a point and shoot camera for my girls to use - I know they would love it. And I think it's awesome that he took pictures of his favorite gardening partner! You are creating such wonderful memories together with your little man!

You always take the best photos so it follows that your son would as well! Please tell him how we enjoyed his perspective of the garden! Things sure look beautiful in your corner of the world!

Your posts always make me smile! May I follow your blog, please? : )

And your garden is just as neat as a pin. I will come right over from my zone 4 and help you eat all those grape tomatoes. My grape tomato plant is still looking pathetic.

I'm trying very hard to grow hydrangea's and your's is very pretty!

The morning glory house has come a long ways since my last visit here. Simply beautiful!

And did Jess just say she wants a point and shoot?!??! It makes me laugh....
