Hubby got a package today. He wasn't home when it arrived, so Kiddo and I took it upon ourselves to open it for him. Kitty helped.
Then the fun really started. I dumped the packing peanuts on Kiddo's head.
That quickly escalated to a peanut fight.
When we tired of that, we pulled out some old cars and trucks that he hasn't played with in three years, and forced them to drive in blizzard conditions.
It was really, really fun. Totally worth the mess.
After we got tired of peanuts, we focused on the box. With some Sharpie magic and a salad plate steering wheel, it became a car.
The last time he did this, the box was a bit smaller. But then, so was he.
In the evening, after we had cleaned up the mess and eaten some dinner, we actually got around to playing with what came in the packaging...one of the new board games that Hubby had ordered.
It's kind of an Indiana Jones treasure-hunter thing. You are in some ruins, complete with moving wall and a rolling boulder, and you are trying to make your way out, collecting treasure as you go. The first time we played, my little guy quickly met his demise in some molten lava. Poor me.
I rallied in the second game and won easily, but in the last game, I moved too slowly and didn't make it out of the ruins before the rolling boulder had sealed up the entrance. Kiddo got trapped in there with me. At least we could keep each other company.
I'm so glad the UPS man came today. Do you think I could convince him to drop off another package tomorrow?

Simple pleasures = great!!! memories.
I can't imagine not having a list so long of things to do that I could spend time just playing!
I need to rethink my priorities!
Thanks for the idea.
