kindergardens - week 12

Fair warning:  this post is feeling random and disjointed, kind of like my brain these days.

Just noticed this little guy today as I looked out the dining room window.  Please remind me to thank my dad for letting me borrow his telephoto lens.  It has been so much fun.

I've been using it to take pictures of birds, too.  My son and I each picked out bird feeders this spring.  We hung them up together near a window so that we could see the visitors.

He is just tickled when we look out and his feeder is covered with birds and mine has none.

I don't think I'm going to give my dad's lens back.  I'm having far too much fun.

We've really been enjoying the variety of birds that have come calling.  Our cats are enjoying them, too.

We need rain.

our yard is not happy (please ignore the blinding white feet - I overexposed and I'm still working on that tan)

our hydrangeas are not happy

the corn across the street is "pineappling."  it's not happy, either.

We are enjoying the beautiful sunny weather, but please feel free to send along any extra rain you might have.

Our purple beans are sprouting!  But the picture I took of them this evening was horrible.  So you will have to use your imagination until I can get a better one.  I'm sorry.

Our pole bean/gourd tunnel is turning green, although it is mostly gourd vines doing the "greening."

I'm cheering on the pole beans, but they are taking their jolly sweet time.

Despite the lack of rain, our son's flower bed is bursting with color.  It is the first thing people see when they pull in the driveway.

My husband and I have been staunch perennial people (why spend money on a plant that's just going to die come October?), but our son is winning us over with all of the annuals he picks for his garden.

Head on over to the Inadvertent Farmer to see what's happening in other kindergardens!

You need rain worse then we do! That corn is sure unhappy. Your son's garden of flowers is beautiful!

Such great photography! I think you should keep the lens too!

We love bird watching too. I am saving my photos to do a blog page one of these days...but my lens is not as good as yours so the pics are different.

I'm working on identifying them via their call as well as color.

Love the feet--you don't know blinding white feet!! hee hee
